Program Overview
Unlike our Family Support and Child-Led Therapy services, this program offers ongoing, facilitator-led sessions with guidance and oversight from a Behaviour Consultant. A trained Skill Strengthening Facilitator works directly with the child, youth or teen, while the Behaviour Consultant guides goal development, strategies and progress monitoring to ensure support remains purposeful and responsive.
We use a strengths-based, neurodivergent-affirming approach that prioritizes connection, felt safety and collaborative growth. Through engaging activities and real-life experiences, children are supported in developing skills related to emotional regulation, communication, flexible thinking, problem-solving and independence.
This service is a fit for families who want:
– Consistent, facilitator-led support in the home and community
– A relationship-first approach that prioritizes trust, connection and felt safety
– Meaningful skill development through everyday experiences, supported by ongoing Behaviour Consultant oversight
How the 20 In-Home Sessions Work
A structured process that starts with understanding your family’s needs and ends with a confident plan you can sustain.
Session 1: Virtual Guardian Intake & Goal Development (60 minutes)
We begin with a virtual meeting with parents or guardians to gather important information about the child, youth or teen’s strengths, interests, needs and current supports. Together, we discuss family priorities, identify meaningful goals and determine the best facilitator match to support a positive, trusting relationship.
Phase 1: Building Connection and Felt Safety
The initial sessions focus on practitioner pairing, developing trust and establishing a positive relationship. Through shared interests, participant-led activities and meaningful interactions, we build a foundation of connection and felt safety before introducing more structured skill development.
Phase 2: Strengthening Skills Together
As relationships develop, sessions gradually incorporate opportunities to teach, model and practise skills aligned with each participant’s goals.
Activities may focus on emotional regulation, communication, flexible thinking, executive functioning, problem-solving, self-advocacy and independence.
Phase 3: Practicing Skills in Everyday Life
Sessions increasingly focus on applying developing skills in meaningful, real-world situations at home and in the community. Through supported experiences, coaching and collaborative problem-solving, participants build confidence and independence across environments.
Phase 4: Ongoing Guidance & Wrap Up
Throughout the program, a Behaviour Consultant provides oversight, reviews progress and coaches the Skill Strengthening Facilitator to ensure strategies remain responsive to each participant’s needs.
At the conclusion of the 20 sessions, families participate in a final consultation and receive a written summary of progress and recommendations for continued growth.
